I saw those first, and they really blew me away! Normally I don't care much for caricatures because they are repetitive, uncreative and predictable, but John's strike me as very different and hilarious, not to mention they actually have character. Like I said, go check out Katie Rice's blog for other charicatures from John that I personally like more than these.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14348317.post-1124736928975717942005-08-22T11:55:00.000-07:002005-08-22T11:55:00.000-07:00I don't know, I'm not a flower child. True John K is a good animator but that doesn't make him a good caricaturist, or even a decent one.

-AlbertoProcess Junkiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06724054522773867048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14348317.post-1124173249709205132005-08-15T23:20:00.000-07:002005-08-15T23:20:00.000-07:00controvery over John K? I'm kind of sorry I fell for it. Thanks again Fred for posting these and sorry for trailing off topic! Your Disney caricatures are looking really good too. I suck at painting so I'm afraid I can't help- but I'll bet you'll get it soon.Chad Coylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05953163224237420221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14348317.post-1123944388101258132005-08-13T07:46:00.000-07:002005-08-13T07:46:00.000-07:00Hey anonymous, after reading your post I've decide...Hey anonymous, after reading your post I've decided your best thoughts are clearly behind you.

Have you seen the APC Ren and Stimpy episodes? They are a million miles beyond anything done in animation today as far as story structure and acting. Definitely beyond his previous work!

I admire, or worship John as you put it, because I believe he stands for artistic integrity and innovation in an industry where those things don't exist anymore.

Your post has no critical analysis of the drawings and you speak as though you have a personal distaste for John that overshadows the drawings posted here. If thats the case you should keep these misinformed opinions confined to your diary or offer up some real reasons why you think these drawings aren't that great!
-ChrisAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14348317.post-1123912062565292822005-08-12T22:47:00.000-07:002005-08-12T22:47:00.000-07:00Meh - I truly don't understand how people continue...Meh - I truly don't understand how people continue to worship at the altar of John K.

His best work is clearly behind him, and there's not much of it, frankly.

So he mocks easy targets, and is clearly obsessed with Paris Hilton. That makes him as unique as.... everyone else.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14348317.post-1123863859678505322005-08-12T09:24:00.000-07:002005-08-12T09:24:00.000-07:00Wow, amazing volume in these. Seems like most caricaturists these days fall back on generic exaggeration and flat angular style and here comes John to blow everyone away with amazing construction and life-like volume. I'm a better person for seeing these. Thanks Fred and Katie for sharing! I can't believe there isn't a book on John and his art, hell several books! Maybe one day... -ChrisAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
